CHROME MOLYBDENUM STEELS

Chrome (Cr) - molybdenum (Mo) steels are higher alloying element content than low alloy steel and are mainly used at refineries for temperatures exceeding 500°F. Chrome moly (CrMo) is typically used in pressure vessels, piping, exchangers and heater tubes. CrMo contains 1 to 9.0% Cr, plus Mo. Normally at least 5% Cr is required to resist oxidation at temperature greater than 800°F.
